The Plumbing Info Playlist #19
I know I’ve taken a long hiatus and I apologize. The great thing is I haven’t stopped creating some sweet playlists. It’s safe to say I’ve got quite a backlog of new and old music to keep you entertained. Since I grew up in the 80s a very strange decade, I thought I’d revisit it with some songs that I loved and give you my 80’s Power Pop Playlist. By the way of you’re wondering where Melt With You by Modern English and Tainted Love by Soft Cell are you’ll be wondering for a while…like forever. Although great, I have heard them so many times I can call them up in my memory in stereo at a moments notice. So tight roll those Guess jeans throw on your K-Swiss shoes and an I.O.U. sweater and you’re ready to go.
80’s Power Pop Playlist #19
1.) Rosanna – Toto – I have no idea who Rosanna is or was but she’s the subject of one hell of a song.
2.) Some Like it Hot – The Power Station – Believe it or not Power Station was one of the very first super groups consisting of Robert Palmer and Duran Duran’s John and Andy Taylor. I would be generous in calling their stuff “super” but I liked this song.
3.) True Colors – Cyndi Lauper – Whatever….I love this song and I’m man enough to admit it.
4.) Waiting For A Girl Like You – Foreigner
5.) Easy Lover – Phil Collins – Who didn’t want an easy lover?
6.) Hazy Shade of Winter – The Bangles – I associate this song with the movie Less Than Zero and I’ve got to be honest the move damaged me a bit. It took the Iron Man, Avenger and Sherlock Holmes movies to shake the Robert Downey scene from Less Than Zero out of my head.
7.) The Look Of Love – ABC – Seeing how many hits ABC had back in the day surprised me. They definitely NOT a one hit wonder.
8.) Somebody – Bryan Adams
9.) I’ll Tumble For You – Culture Club – I don’t think I want Boy George to tumble for me but I liked the song.
10.) Who Can It Be Now – Men At Work – I know it’s the wrong song but I want a Vegemite Sandwich.
11.) Come On Eileen – Dexys Midnight Runners – Although this was one of the only songs to gain popularity in the US, Dexys went on to have a decent career in the UK.
12.) In A Big Country – Big Country – I LOVE THIS SONG
13.) Holding Back The Years – Simply Red – This is a funny song for me. I like it better now than I did back when it was released.
14.) Shakin’ – Eddie Money – Something tells me that Eddie Money did lots of bad things to himself back in the 80’s. Just a hunch.
15.) (I Just) Died In Your Arms – Cutting Crew – I often wonder how some of these bands managed to have a greatest hits album with like 6 singles, 1 hit and 1 borderline hit.
16.) Cruel Summer – Bananarama
